I have a UC500 with an AIM-CUE and I get many errors when I attempt to boot it up, so I am trying to install version 7. I have a Vlan that acts as the default gateway on the router, and am utilizing the IOS DHCP server, which successfully hands out IP's addresses to clients. From my workstation I can ping the default gateway on the vlan and the service-module.
My default gateway is 10.225.25.1
My workstation IP is 10.225.25.3
The bootloader IP address is 10.225.25.5
However, I can not ping anything from the bootloader command prompt of CUE, including the loopback, which is why the TFTP file transfer is failing. I don't have many configuration options, anyone have any ideas?

Sounds like a routing issue. Can you post your config?

Send relevant config and one can tell what is wrong. Otherwise, it's impossible.
Note: If you are using CCA exclusively, then this is the wrong forum and you must post in "small business voice - UC500". You can move you post using the Actions panel on the right.

I'm not using CCA, since CCA can't configure voicemail due to all of the errors, I'm doing all of this on the IOS

Here's your problem:
interface Integrated-Service-Engine0/0
ip address 192.168.0.1 255.255.255.0
service-module ip address 192.168.0.254 255.255.255.0
service-module ip default-gateway 192.168.0.1
Here's a working config example:
interface FastEthernet0/0
ip address 10.1.1.1 255.255.255.0
ip traffic-export apply test size 2000000
duplex auto
speed auto
!
interface Integrated-Service-Engine0/0
ip unnumbered FastEthernet0/0
service-module ip address 10.1.1.2 255.255.255.0
service-module ip default-gateway 10.1.1.1
Then you need to add a route to the ISE:
ip route 10.1.1.2 255.255.255.255 Integrated-Service-Engine0/0
You can use a VLan interface for the IP unnumbered command but I'm not sure it will work if they're on different networks.
First though, just try adding:
ip route 192.168.0.254 255.255.255.255 Integrated-Service-Engine0/0
That might be all you need.
05-18-2012 10:21 AM
Also, all other network devices will need to point to the CME router for network 192.168.0.x.
05-18-2012 11:08 AM
Copied your configuration to a T, can not ping 10.1.1.2, and f0/0 is up
nterface FastEthernet0/0
ip address 10.1.1.1 255.255.255.0
ip traffic-export apply test size 2000000
duplex auto
speed auto
!
interface Integrated-Service-Engine0/0
ip unnumbered FastEthernet0/0
service-module ip address 10.1.1.2 255.255.255.0
service-module ip default-gateway 10.1.1.1
Then you need to add a route to the ISE:
ip route 10.1.1.2 255.255.255.255 Integrated-Service-Engine0/0
05-18-2012 11:15 AM
Where are you trying to ping from? Your pc? You've just introduced a new subnet to your network so make sure your routes are placed accordingly.
Also, what do you get from:
service-module integrated-Service-Engine 0/0 status
05-18-2012 11:19 AM
I'm pinging from the router
Service Module is Cisco Integrated-Service-Engine0/0
Service Module supports session via TTY line 2
Service Module is trying to recover from error
Service Module heartbeat-reset is enabled
Service Module status is not available
Router#ping 10.1.

05-18-2012 11:22 AM
Service Module is trying to recover from error
Service Module status is not available
That's probably the issue right there.
Can you session to it?
Try:
service-module integrated-Service-Engine 0/0 session
05-18-2012 11:24 AM
Yes I can. See my 2nd post, and you'll see the output from when I get into the module.
05-18-2012 12:08 PM
Sorry I missed that. I'm not sure at this point. I'm assuming this was working and now it's stopped? Or is this a new install?
Do you have smartnet?
05-18-2012 12:12 PM
I bought this UC500 used, it has never worked. I have smartnet through my work but I think they'd frown upon me using it for my personal router
05-18-2012 02:19 PM
Got it to work! Basically the service-module IP and bootloader IP address need to be on the same subnet, also I was plugged into a switchport, i moved that over to a fast ethernet port and I could ping from the bootloader module.
Now I have a second issue, when I load the boot helper, it loads, but at the very end it says
##Booting image at 400000 ...
Bad Magic number
The boot helper won't start up for this reason
