If I turn off or unplug a phone, call manager does not show the device as unregistered for about 30 seconds. If it was shorter, it would be nice.
So a few questions. Is this normal ? Is this controlled by a system parameter ? Is there a reason it takes this long, i.e. srst or ? This is all rather new to me. Thanks,
Note: I want the shorter timeout, since we have 7925s, when they go out of range and go unregistered, I have a voicemail that answers, explaining they are currently out of range. But this timeout just makes the call hang in no mans land while waiting to unregister. Maybe there is a way around this ?

I think the keyword you are looking for is "keepalive"
Was about to find a lot of information by googling "cucm device keep alive registration"

Bear in mind that changing the keepalive setting is a clusterwide configuration, and you'll be generating more traffic because of that, if you lower the values.
