Can any one clear me with the below table.

As I know PVDM3-64 is "64-channel high-density voice and video DSP module"

But what is the different in below PVDM...what this 256/192/128 channel factory upgrade

PVDM3-64U256 PVDM3 64-channel to 256-channel factory upgrade
PVDM3-64U192 PVDM3 64-channel to 192-channel factory upgrade
PVDM3-64U128 PVDM3 64-channel to 128-channel factory upgrade

We are using CISCO2911/K9 VGW on which  PVDM3-32 is in use we tried for 1 30-channel PRI on this but getting an error

(config-controller)#pri-group timeslots 1-31

% Not enough DSP resources available to configure pri-group on controller E1 0/0/0

% The remaining dsp resources are enough for 16 time slots.

% For current codec complexity, 1 extra  dsp(s) are required to create this voice port

And now we are planning for upgrade the PVDM..so which one we need to select from above table.

You can use the following commands:

show voice dsp group all

show voice dsp detailed

Also, you can take a look at the dspfarm commands in the existing configuration. This should tell you the number of sessions configured for conferencing/transcoding.

Keep in mind the PVDM3-64U128 is only an upgrade SKU and would need to be ordered along with a bundle in order to upgrade 64 to 128 channels. It is not a standalone SKU.

The upgrade products above are an upgrade to a bundled PVDM3-64. So, if the 64 channel PVDM is in a bundle you are ordering, but you actually need 256 channels, you order the bundle plus PVDM3-64U256. Are you using the existing DSP for other functions (conferencing, transcoding, etc.)? The 32 channel PVDM should accommodate 30 channels.

The easiest way to find the necessary DSPs is to use the DSP calculator.

Hello Brandon,

Thanks We are planning for the PVDM3-64U128, but still there is query ....

Yes we are using conferencing & trans coding.....is there any command so that we can check ..how many DSP are used by the  conferencing, transcoding, etc.

Hi,

show voice dsp cap slot x dsp y.

This will show you the number of credits use by one g711, one medium complex, high complex codecs. Also, you will see the number of credits for conference parties. You can then the max number of xcode and conf sessions per dsp

You can use the following commands:

show voice dsp group all

show voice dsp detailed

Also, you can take a look at the dspfarm commands in the existing configuration. This should tell you the number of sessions configured for conferencing/transcoding.
