Can the 2 tones through the speaker and handset of a 7841 phone when called while in DND be disabled?

What do you mean by '2 Tones'? Are you referring to a busy tone?
Could you explain a bit more about your question?

Not a busy tone. When the phone is in DND it does not ring with the standard ring tone, but 2 brief tones are still heard through the speaker, and receiver if on an active call. It's not a big deal, I could just see the question coming up from the customer if they wanted the phone to be completely silent. I realize the ringer can also be completely turned off with the volume setting. With legacy PBXs DND would disable the phone from ringing at all, and depending on the configuration route the call to voicemail, another line, or a unique DND tone.

@SteveK066, this can be done but I would have to research this as the engineer that programmed it for us is not available. We had to do this as our K12 state testing requires that there can be no distractions, including calling tones, when a state test is being administered. Any sounds/tones can invalidate a test for everyone in the room so it was crucial this was implemented. The DND call tone is disabled but we did set it up so that front office staff can use a Priority Call feature to override the DND in an emergency.

@Kathy N. Interesting - thanks for the information. I work at a university, not sure what the official policy is for testing but I believe there are signs noting as such on the classroom doors. I actually never considered the totally silent phone setting may be required during testing.
