DX70 HDMI out with CE software

In one of our conference rooms (small huddle room; 4 chairs) we are using a DX70 as a telepresence endpoint with the Android firmware and using the HDMI out to project to a 55" TV.

We have gotten the push from administration to switch the room to CE software so that it is the same experience for users as our other conference rooms with SX endpoints.

Did the upgrade yesterday and quickly found out that Cisco has disabled the HDMI out port.

Is this by design? It was working in Android, why have we taken a step backwards? Any workarounds? Is it in the pipeline to be activated? ETA?

Hello - we understand the confusion about the HDMI output port, which worked on the DX70 when running Android.

The reasons are entirely technical.  In Android, they make certain compromises to processing main video in order to support the HDMI output on the DX70.  The DX70 and DX80 have a single OMAP processor which handles 1080p30 just fine, as well as 1080p5 for presentation, but when you try to do more complex operations, you have to rob from main processes.

For example, BiB - built in audio bridge - does not work in CE software.  And as you have noted, the HDMI output is disabled. In order to prioritize video quality, these decisions were made by the developers.  It is generally accepted that video quality is better in CE software than on Android.

There is no plan to try to activate the HDMI output in CE software.
