Hi,
I have a 2811 which I inted to insert a VWIC2-2MFT-T1/E1 module on it and create trunks with a Panasonic TDA600 pbx. The extension card on Panasonic is PRI30.
I need the router to translate channels on this trunk to SIP. A SIP trunk will be made between Cisco and another IP PBX. So my router will only be used as a gateway.
I wonder if this module suites this scenario and whether it is a good chioce for this. I have also heard that I will need PVDM2 DSP modules. I am not sure what this DSP module will serve in this particular scenario. I also see references to network module cards (like NM-HDV, NM-HD-2VE, and NM-HDV2) on the datasheet page for the VWIC module. My 2811 does not have any extra network modules on it.

You will need DSPs. The E1/T1 is a TDM card and the IP link would be VoIP.

You should be able to use that card. The DSPs would be used to convert from/to TDM and VoIP.

Thank you roger,
I still cannot tell if DSP is needed for my scenario.
