Error Upgrade CUCM 14SU2 to 14SU3

Hi all,

I´m having troubles to upgrade CUCM 14SU2 (14.0.1.12900-161) to 14SU3 (14.0.1.13900-155).

I get this error:

component_install|File:/opt/cisco/install/bin/component_install:936, Function: execute_shell_cmd(), /usr/local/cm/script/cm-dbl-install L2 PostInstall 14.0.1.13900-155 14.0.1.12900-161 /usr/local/cm/ /partB/usr/local/cm/ /common/log/install/capture.txt failed (1)|<LVL::Error>appmanager.sh|Internal Error, File:/usr/local/bin/base_scripts/appmanager.sh:201, Function: upgrade(), failed to upgrade infrastructure_post components|<LVL::Critical>
post_upgrade|File:/opt/cisco/install/bin/post_upgrade:135, Function: install_applications(), /usr/local/bin/base_scripts/appmanager.sh -upgrade -basepath /common/rpm-archive/14.0.1.13900-155 -logfile /common/log/install/install_log_2023-07-18.17.59.11.log -resultfile /common/log/install/upgrade-results.xml failed (1)|<LVL::Error>
upgrade_manager.sh|File:/common/download/14.0.1.13900-155/upgrade_manager.sh:2817, Function: main(), Applications upgrade failed|<LVL::Error>

It´s a VM machine installed on ESXi 7

No IMP is configured, because we don´t have one anymore.

Somebody knows what could be wrong?

Thank you very much.

What does the log file say? /common/log/install/install_log_2023-07-18.17.59.11.log

Hi Roger,

thanks for your reply, this error message I posted is from the log file. What exactly should I look for? There are over 5000 lines in it.

At the end of the file there is this:

07/18/2023 18:55:46 upgrade_install.sh|cleaning clusterUpgradeEnv.txt......|<LVL::Info>
07/18/2023 18:55:46 upgrade_install.sh|File:/usr/local/bin/base_scripts/upgrade_install.sh:650, Function: main(), Upgrade Failed -- (1)|<LVL::Error>
07/18/2023 18:55:47 upgrade_install.sh|Parse argument status=upgrade.stage.error|<LVL::Debug>
07/18/2023 18:55:47 upgrade_install.sh|_set_upgrade_status_attribute: status set to upgrade.stage.error|<LVL::Debug>
07/18/2023 18:55:47 upgrade_install.sh|is_upgrade_lock_available: Upgrade lock is not available.|<LVL::Debug>
07/18/2023 18:55:47 upgrade_install.sh|is_upgrade_in_progress: Already locked by this process (pid: 25198).|<LVL::Debug>
07/18/2023 18:55:47 upgrade_install.sh|release_upgrade_lock: Releasing lock (pid: 25198)|<LVL::Debug>

Usually searching for error, failed or warning can reveal what’s going wrong. Otherwise looking from the end of file and backwards can also be helpful. If you do not find anything apparent in the log file I would recommend you to involve TAC in this as it’s quite often hard to pinpoint the exact issue in the log.

Yep, I searched for error and the message I posted was the, what I thought, most useful, anyway, I opened a TAC case. Let´s see how it goes.

Thank you.

Hi @christoph.neukam , @Roger Kallberg ,

What was the solution for this issue provided by Cisco TAC ? Thank you.

I don’t know, it was @christoph.neukam that had the issue and opened the SR with TAC.
