I have unityConnection 8.0 and I have groups of users in differnt partions and search scops, is there a way to forward voicmails from uers to other users in differnt partitions and search scops?

example

user 1 is in partion 1 and search scope 1

user 2 is in partition 2 and search scope 2

user 1 gets a voicemail message and wants to forward it to user 2

without using PCA or IMAP.

thanks

Hi there,

Yes, you will need to make sure your search space for User 1 contains partitions 1 and 2.  If you want User 2 to be able to reach User 1 it will need its search space to contain Partitions 1 and 2 as well.

HTH,

Chris

what about then the search scop is used for forwarding to Voicemail? and the voicemail is destined for the user in the lower partition?

While the Call Search Spaces and Partitions in CallManager operate in a similar manner to what is in Unity Connection, the function of a search space is quite different in Unity Connection.

In Callmanager, it's used to identify call routing based on digits using a list of partitions.

In Unity Connection, it defines what the object (a call handler, a voicemail box, etc.) can see.  When the call arrives into Unity Connection, routing rules will define where it lands, and you can have different integrations with different needs onto the same system.

You may use one search space for callers hitting an auto attendant script so that they can only direct dial to a certain group of users, but might provide a different search space on mailboxes to allow what you're asking to do.  Just be aware that if the caller is allowed to enter digits at the mailbox, they would be able to dial out to whatever extension the mailbox could see.  In the event that the number exists twice in Unity Connection (overlap, different partitions), the call will get routed to the one in the topmost partition in the search space.  Same rules will apply to forwarding voicemails.
