FXS qwirkiness..

This is more of a curiosity question than anything.

I've setup an H.323 gateway with 8 FXS/DID ports for faxes. Dialing in and out of the system works fine. But if I'm on one fax line dialing the full 9+7 for one of the other fax lines I get a dialtone.

Is this normal? To prevent dialing an on system number through the PSTN. Or did I miss something in my config?

The dial-peers look like this right now-

dial-peer voice 9712 pots

destination-pattern 9712

Port 0/2/0

What can be happending is that you're hitting the default incoming DP that doesn't have "direct-inward-dialing. To prevent that do:

dial-peer voice 1 pots

incoming called-number 1

direct-inward-dialing
