How do I add a new login id and pin for a new employee we have. We have a spare phone with no login assigned to it, but do not know how to generate a login / phone number for this phone.

I am assuming you are asking about the extension mobility profile - you will need to create a new profile and end user in CUCM

in cucm:

device>device settings>device profile and add one for a 7942, or COPY an existing one and then assign a new extension to it.

also assosiate the user ID with the profile in user management>end user
