Hi Everyone,

Is there a way we can verify if a new Cisco Phone is a grey device or legit for use just like the way we do with switches and routers.

Regards,

Michael

Maybe you should specify first, what's a "grey device" in your opinion?
What do you want to achieve?

A grey device is a case whereby you are supplied with a device that should
be used by another client as per Cisco Records.

If you legally buy a device, then you are the legal owner of it. And it's physically in your "hand". How should it be used then by a different client?
"you are supplied with a device that should be used by another client" --> How should another client be using a device, that has been shipped to you?
Sorry, maybe I don't really get what you are trying to ask.

Are you asking how to tell if a Cisco phone is designed to be used with CUCM versus a 3rd-party call control system? If so, here is an article from Cisco on the differences:

Compare & Contrast: Cisco IP MPP Phones & Cisco Unified IP Phones

To see if the phone is Enterprise or 3PCC, look at the product ID on the back of the phone. If the PID has “3PCC” or “3PC” or “3PW” after the model number, then it is an MPP/3PCC phone.

Same as for @b.winter I’m not clear on what you mean by “if a new Cisco Phone is a grey device”. Could you please elaborate on what that entails?
