ISDN test call while registered to CUCM

Hello.  I'm trying to a PRI while it is also registered to CUCM (long story as to the need for this).  I assumed this would not be a problem, but I cannot get it to work, so can someone clarify?  I can neither use csim start nor isdn test call effectively.  Here's my config:

interface Serial0/1/1:23

no ip address

encapsulation hdlc

isdn switch-type primary-ni

isdn incoming-voice voice

isdn bind-l3 ccm-manager

no cdp enable

end

dial-peer voice 8888 pots

destination-pattern 9T

port 0/1/1:23

csim start gives the following (number substituted):

csim start 95555555

csim: called number = 95555555, loop count = 1 ping count = 0

csim: loop = 1, failed = 1
csim: call attempted = 1, setup failed = 1, tone failed = 0

debug voip dialpeer all shows it selecting dial-peer 8888

isdn test call and debug isdn q931 gives the following:

isdn test call int s0/1/1:23 5555555555

Any help would be appreciated!!

I don't think you can use csim start to testing when you are back haul layer 3 to CUCM.  The problem comes in when the reply comes in for a SETUP CUCM didn't originate therefore it doesn't accept it.  The router won't intercept the q931 on 0/1/1:23 since you have isdn bind-l3 ccm.

If you're telling it to bind L3 info to CUCM then why don't you just create a RP, bind the GW/int and place a call from there??

That test call shows as unrestricted digital, that's a video call.

I mentioned it being a long story..  =) - this is the synopsis..

The router currently is registered to CUCM.  The company is moving to a new location, but wants to verify the PRI as operational before they move.  So, they're going to take one of their existing routers which is registered to CUCM to the site and have a softphone or handset register to the router and test the PRI.  I was trying to verify at the very least that I could make calls on the PRI now with csim start or isdn test call.  So, the CUCM won't be on-site during this testing phase.

Brian,

Apart from the excellent info provided by Jo, you might want to modify the bearer cap on the gateway as well.

Try this..

voice-port 0/1/1:23

bearer-cap Speech

The bearer cap you are using as mentioned by Java is

0x8890Unrestricted digital information64 Kbps (64k data call)

As you can see this is for a data call. Your gateway is disconnecting the call.

I've applied the bearer-cap speed to the voice port as well as "no isdn bind-l3 ccm" on s0/1/1:23 just to test:

Jul  9 10:23:25.881: ISDN Se0/1/1:23 Q931: Applying typeplan for sw-type 0xD is 0x2 0x1, Called num 55555555555

                Transfer Capability = Unrestricted Digital

Jul  9 10:23:26.157: ISDN Se0/1/1:23 Q931: TX -> DISCONNECT pd = 8  callref = 0x0096

Jul 9 10:23:26.221: ISDN Se0/1/1:23 Q931: TX -> RELEASE_COMP pd = 8 callref = 0x0096

These are full PRIs and channel 22 is available.  Just to verify, I changed the b channel order to ascending, and it said that channel 1 was also "NO HDLC available".  Thanks for the help so far though!

Two things..

1. The bearer-cap is speech not speed. I hope thats what you have.

2. Your capability is still showing as unretsricted digital

3. Your router is disconnecting the call....

4. What type of hardware do you have..can you do a "sh diag"

5. Can you do the ff shows:

show voice dsp detail

show voice dsp voice

6. Use the ff procedure to test the status of your dsps..

Hi aokanlawon.  Thanks for following up!  I think at this point it's just not worth the amount of time it will take in order to generate this test environment.  I appreciate yours and everyones help though.
