ISR 4431 E1 ISDN clocking

Hi Folks, Has anyone managed to get an E1 circuit connected to a 4th Gen Card installed in an ISR4431? I just cant get the damm thing to be stable. I suspect the clocking as when I do a "show network clocking" it is showing that it is in revertive mode which is fine I guess, but it is not showing me the source it has synced up to.

Can someone who has an E1 circuit running just show me a screenshot of the clocking status and the relevant commands in their ISR + what version of IOS they have?

I may need to upgrade the IOS but if I have a reference thats great.

Much appreciated

Paul

I have the following command too:

network-clock synchronization automatic
network-clock input-source 1 controller E1 0/1/0
network-clock input-source 2 controller E1 0/1/1

regards,

Hi,

you need to add the command "clock source line primary" or "clock source line primary" inside of the controllers. p.e.:

controller E1 0/1/0
 clock source line primary
 pri-group timeslots 1-31 voice-dsp
!
controller E1 0/1/1
 clock source line secondary
 pri-group timeslots 1-31 voice-dsp

regards,

Yes I already have that. although I cannot add the last part - voice-dsp

Hi,

The last part is for create the "voice-port"

Like say Nipun, it'd be good share the "show controller ...." command.

Regards,

You need voice-dsp keyword only if you have a T1/E1 CE card. Do a show platform or show inventory and tell me what the card is.

You have a non-CE card -
NIM-2MFT-T1/E1

You should be fine with the config that you already have. What is the exact issue that you have ? Clocking, slips and/or circuit flapping ?

Hi, Yes its really odd. The circuit comes up, synce with the PSTN and I start to receive calls then after ni more than 30 seconds it all resets then comes back into service a few seconds later and repeats. It is as though the clocking is not synced, but its a live service so calls end up getting disconnected. Think I'll have to get an ISDN analyser.

Thanks anyhow

Enable "debug isdn q921" and monitor. Once it flaps, collect the logs and attach it here.

Share your configuration. T1/E1 should work absolutely fine. Clocking sync issues would generally cause slip errors.
Do a "show controller e1 x/y/z"

regards,

OK so I have all that config in and it still fails. I'll have to get a primary ISDN tester to make sure the hardware isn't faulty. I cannot move the circuit really as its a live circuit and I am losing calls into a hospital so not ideal.

Thanks all.

It ended up been he default 300 seconds before switching to another timing source. Changed to 10 seconds and all OK.
