keeping some objects from showing in phone corporate directory

Has anyone come up with a way to not have the corporate directory in CUCM not list certain objects that are brought in with LDAP synchronization that are not actual users?

Not possible at this point; however, CUCM 8.0 and later support adding a custom LDAP filter within the UI now. You could filter out the entries.
