Licensing with EM and Softphone

Hello,

we have EM-user with an EM-profile and jabber softphone, how many and wich license we need?

One license for User and a second for Phone?

Or ownd the user only a license if he logged in on phone or softphone?

I know without Softphone we need one enhanced license per phone, and the user share the license with the phone who is logged in.

EM does not require license anymore starting version 9.1.1a. Refer below:

Adding to my previous response, with EM and Jabber softphone both assigned to the user it will only consume 1 Enhanced License. Refer below:

Will only the user consume a License, or the phone without any User, too?

Simply creating an End User in CUCM will not  consume a license, this had been very well explained in the below document that I shared earlier as well:

Adding a phone in CM will consume 1 license even if it is not associated with any user and will still consume only 1 license even if associated with the user. So now you will think if license consumption is 1 only even if phone is associated with the user or not then why there is a need to associate the phone with an End User. Answer to this is let's say you have uploaded Enhanced Plus licenses to PLM that supports 2 phones/devices per user and you go ahead and add two 89xx phones in CM then they will consume 2 Enhanced Plus licenses without being assigned to any user. However the moment you assign both these phones to an end user then the license consumed/count will reduce from 2 to 1 as Enhanced Plus provides 2 devices per user. Hope you understand it now.

Rest you can always go to PLM >> Dashboard and check if the licenses are In Compliance or not. Along with this, you can go to CM >> Licensing >> License Usage Report and see what all users and devices are consuming licenses.

Hi Florian,

You only need UCL Enhanced or Enhanced plus depending upon your requirements.

UCL Enhanced : You can associate 1 device to the user ie Hardphone or softphone

UCL Enhanced Plus : You can associate more than one device to the user ie Hardphone plus softphone.

With Enhanced or higher license you get Jabber softclient free of cost.
