max-dn and max-ephones for Cisco 2851

Quick question.  I know that the max-ephones for the 2851 is 96 phones.  That is supported max DNs?  Is it really 288 or some other number?

I have a presentation from cisco employment he gave us a pre-sale session last year , it contains that the 2851 maxium ephone number is 100 and the maximum DN is 288, and both numbers are valid in CME or SRST .

I am new to voice still, so I am a bit confused.  I have a 2821 loaded with like 2GB of flash, and 768 memory (the flash/RAM is cheap), 1 PVDM2-16 modeule, and a whole mess of other modules, but nothing that would add to the system resources.

Per the charts above (pasted in, and more so, in that link), I should ONLY have 50 ephones, but my router shows 58:

RtrPod1(config-telephony)#max-ephones ?

  <1-58>  Maximum phones to support

However, per the above charts, I should only be able to support 192 dn's, and that number is in fact what shows up.

1. Why is there that discrepancy?

2. How can I increase the number of phones supported on any router from what that chart says (e.g. Can I add 5 PVDM2-48's, or an NM-HDV loaded with PVDM-12's, or perhaps something else, that allows me to boost these numbers?)??

Last, the router came with the end most IOS that was made for this router it seems (I was thinking about upgrading it when I bought it, but after checking, I noticed it was as high as it would go already).  So I am wondering if maybe Cisco thought this router was maybe a little more beastly than a 50 phone router, and pumped it 8 phones in this particular IOS version?  I was thinking about trying to bump the IOS version down to test that theory, but I don't have an IOS to test with, so I am just going to rely on you fine people to pour out your thoughts on this.
