Dear NetPro gurus,
I have 3 questions and would greatly appreciatied your assistance on this.
i) What's the main benefits / difference between Cisco 3945 Vs Cisco 3945E ISRs?
ii) With the Cisco 3945 router, what's the maximum number of E1 ports I can have?? The reason being I can have 4 x PVDM-256, so I can have over 1,024 G711 channels. So I am wondering how many E1 ports the 3945 can have to maximise the voice channels for IP Phone users.
iii) Under "Regions" settings of UCM, is it always the case where we use G711 or G729. Does anyone ever find the need to use G729A?
Would appreciated if anyone can shed some lights on this =)
Cheers

1. The -E is like 30% faster and support more phones in CME mode. There is a Performance White Paper about it on Cisco.com
2. Let's reverse the question. How many E1 ports do you really need ?
3. Check http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/G.729 to understand what Annex A is and it's applicability.

Hi Hunt,
Just to add a note to the great info from my friend Paolo (+5 "P")
1.

2.
The 3945 and 3945E are compared nicely here;

3.
The config of g.729 also covers g.729a
Cheers!
