Maximum Session Transcoder zero (0-0)

Hi All,

i have a problem when i configure the Transcoder on router 2801,  the Maximum Session (0-0)

the router 2801 have the PVDM Card-8, the ios Version is 12.4(22)YB2.

why doesnt have session for the transcoder ?

Hi Jonson,

Can you share the running config, most likely the DSP resources are being utilized by FXO ports or something else on the router. Have you tried by clearing rest of the FXO or any other dspfarm config?

Hi Jonson,

Each DSP on a PVDM2 module can only perform one role at a time ie. Voice Termination, Transcoding or Audio Conferencing. So while it is possible to do both Voice Termination and Transcoding on a single PVDM, you need to have a PVDM module with 2 DSP's.

The PVDM2-8 only has a single DSP and you are using this to provide Voice Termination for your FXO Ports. The smallest PVDM that has 2 DSP's is the PVDM2-32.

The PVDM8 is not even a whole DSP, it's HALF DSP.

OP, yes you don't have another DSPfarm (not that you could), but it seems you don't understand that TDM interfaces (FXO, FXS, PRI, etc.) ALSO use DSP channels, and you ONLY have 8 of those, seeing you have 4 FXS and 4 FXO, it seems you bought a bundle with the bare minimum to make those work, but absolutely nothing else.

You cannot configure any dspfarm, because you don't have resources to do so.

Assuming you still want to use those FXS and/or FXO, your only option is to buy more PVDM resources, or drop the idea of any dspfarm config.
