I just took over this CUCM 9.0 with Unity Connection 9.0 system. Someone has done a real hack job on it, and its in a transition state because some users are actually still on an old 7.03 CUCM with Unity 7.0X (windows based). I'm in the process of moving everyone over to the newer system as I can find their network drop, nothing is labeled in the IDF closets. I just spent the last 3 hrs figuring out that the VM profile was wrong and corrected that so now those that are on it can at least dial 2000 from their extension and get into their VM and set it up and listen to messages. Now I need to fix that darn message button on all the 79XX phones in the building that do nothing when you press them. Any assistance would be appreciated.

The VM button basically does the same you told users to do, it dials the VM pilot, make sure the VM pilot and VM profile are properly configured, and the VM profile assigned to phones.

Hi
When you create the Voice Mail Pilot (Feature-VoiceMail-Voice Mail Pilot) if you have only one Unity Server you can check the option "Make this the default Voice Mail Pilot for the system ", which allows all the phones use this Pilot number and you don't have to assign the phones to a Voice Mail Profile.Default VM Profile and default VM Pilot number will be used.
Thank you

Quick trick:
1. Check IP Phone has correct VM Profile
2. Check VM Profile has a VM Pilot , check VM Pilot is correct.
3. DIal an internal Extension reachable by IP Phone..Example 1001 calling to 1002.
4. Put VM Pilot as 1002. When u press message button on IP Phone with 1001 , 1002 should ring.
5. If this is correct, there is no problem with VM Profile etc. Change VM Pilot from 1002 to real VM Pilot that users dial - 2000.
Still not working? pull out the detailed traces on CUCM and post.
