modem passthrough issue

Hi all:

        We have a problem about fax, the scenario as follow:

fax---vg224---lan---3945---core---3925---pbx---fax

        We configured vg224 as a sccp gateway which registered with a cucm 9.1,3945 and 3925 as a h.323 gateway,3925 use e1 r2 signal connected to a pbx. We configured on vg224 and 3925 modem passthrough nse codec g711alaw to send and receive fax. Truth is we can't send and receive any faxes, the fax machine has report an 503 error code which means communication error. Can somebody know why? Please tell us, thanks.

For fax, you should use fax relay, and preferably H.323 or SIP, not modem passtrough.

Anyway, post "show controllers E1" and "show network-clock" taken on 3925.
