MOH not working

Hi everybody!!

I have an issue with MoH on CUCM System version: 7.1.2.30000-3 . When I place on hold a user calling from the PSTN or calling from a 1800 number I hear nothing I just get silence.

I have checked the following:

- Both MoH servers are registered to the subscriber

- moh audio file is uploaded on both servers and with the format .wav (ulaw,8000 hz, 64kbps, mono)

- MOH resources assigned to MRG

- MRGL assigned to MRG

- The MoH servers are enabled for unicast

- inside music on hold source file the check box play continuously (repeat) is checked

I have also reset and restarted de MoH servers and the IP voice media stream app .....

Also what I wonder is that when going to RTMT---> Performance---> Cisco MOH Device--> and whatever I choose I get " No cisco moh Device instances"

Do you have any ideas what could be happening???

thanks!

Can you disable CEF on the router as well

No IP CEF

It also could be this bug:

Unicast MoH fails if CEF is enabled Symptom:

Unicast MoH audio coming from CUCM will stop working after upgrade.

Conditions:

The symptom can be observed after upgrading a Cisco router to 15.0.1M4,

15.1(2)T1 or 151-3.T.

Workaround:

Option 1:

Disable CEF by adding the no ip cef command under global

configuration mode. Beware this can affect the router's performance and

functionality of CEF dependent configurations.

Option 2:

Enable Duplex Streaming in the CallManager service parameters. This does not

carry the same performance impact as disabling CEF on the voice gateway. There

is minimal signaling difference for this and no known negative side effects.

I forgot , internal MOH(placing on hold between extensions) work just fine.

Does the gateway have the MRGL for MOH?

Hi Tommer,

How can I check that?

thanks.

Check your Device/Gateway (H323 or MGCP)

And see what is configured for Device Pool and Media Resources

I checked the Gateways which are  H323 device type. The device pool and Media Resources are the same as those configured under Device Pool --> X-Pool.

I attach the screens

Is this not working between sites? Remember, the Codecs selections must be set for the MOH server. For example, if the MOH server is in region/location A and the unicast stream has to go to region/location B and you have G729 configured between sites, you will need to ensure the Service Parameter is set correctly for this.

Also, in 8.5, Cisco decided that it would be ā€œniceā€ to automatically turn this on for us. I have no idea why this is default. So even if you do not have G729 setup up between regions, it will still use G729 because of the service parameter.

Thanks for your assistance Tom!!

I checked what you said about the codecs. G711 and G729 are supported... and the issue I get it is when calling from the PSTN or from 1800 number to the site... there“s only one site.

attach the screen.

Tom, let me check again the region codec... and try... I“ll let you know...

thanks!

Hi Tommer, the codecs seem to be ok... also the thing is that when I place a call from pstn on-hold I get silence (no tone on-hold, no music on-hold)... what else could be wrong??

thanks!

Try putting "ccm-manager music-on-hold"

Thanks Tommer!

I tried it but same thing just silence... I really dont know what else to do , any other idea??

thanks again!
