Multiple CUCM 'Trunks' to single CUBE Router

Hello, I have searched through the forums, and am unable to find an answer to my question. I'm hoping someone with a similar setup can assist me in the best way to move forward with my question.

I have several different offices around the country that are going to be using the same CUBE router(ATT SIP) to make PSTN calls. My main issue is that in order to set office-specific called/calling party transformations on the SIP configuration, I cannot use the same SIP trunk in CUCM. If I try to create another SIP trunk for a different office, it tells me I cannot use the same IP address as an existing Trunk. My question is, how do I create several different Trunks in CUCM that point to the same router? Do I create more Loopbacks, etc?

You can re-use the same SIP trunk as many times as you want in CUCM, just create a RG/RL and use that, instead of choosing the SIP trunk under the route pattern/SIP pattern. When you do that, you cannot re-use it in any other config.

Thanks for the quick reply. I do have a RG for each office(which automatically created the Trunks). But when I change any settings in any of the Trunks, it changes it for all of them.

Example:

Seattle-->Seattle RG -->ATT SIP

LA-->LA RG-->ATT SIP

Florida-->Florida RG-->ATT SIP

Even though they are in different RG's, if I change the called/calling transformations in one, it changes for all. Each of these locations has their own CSS with different patterns, etc.

Yes, if you're doing the changes directly in the SIP trunk, that's expected, if you need different call treatment, you do that at the RG/RL level.

I guess what I'm asking is, is it feasible for me to create a new Trunk in CUCM each time I create a new location, and then point it at a new Loopback on the CUBE router each time? Or is there a way for me to just keep pointing CUCM Trunks at the same Loopback, and still maintain the ability to use different CSS calling/called Transformation patterns for each Trunk?

Jacob this would not be feasible or the recommended approach.

You can configure your called party transformations on site specific css matching each site patterns. Then ensure that the css on the sip trunk has access to all the called party transformations. I don't see any issues here..

Okay, so you're saying to create new CSS's for the Trunk that include the partitions for all sites using the Trunk? I will give this a try, as I feel like some patterns may overlap.

Okay this seems to be working, and is much less work than manually creating a new Trunk each time I bring up a new office. Thank you for the assistance, I believe Jaime may have been alluding to the same thing, I just wasn't able to grasp it. One more question, since the CUBE CSS has access to multiple partitions, isn't it possible that a phone in Seattle's partition could hit one of the transformation pattern's that I created for LA?

Trying to not be lazy, I went ahead and tested this. It is true that all calls going out this Trunk, will hit all Transformations, regardless of the partition. I think my solution here is to just create more specific translations, that will only match those specific extensions.

One thing you cant afford to do in this field is "lazy" it just creates more problems for you down the line.

Ensure that you create specific patterns per site so you can perform the correct digit manipulation as you require. Dont forget to rate useful posts

Yes you apply it to the called party transformation setting either on the trunk or device pool for the trunk..

For some reason your most recent reply is not showing up in the forum. If I make changes at the RG/RL level, I am unable to insert my CSS which contain multiple transformation patterns.

Hi Jaime,

I also have the need to create multiple SIP trunks from CUCM to CUBE. On my CUBE there are different ISPs for different sites. On one site I need MTP and early offer and on the other site not.

As this is a trunk specific setting, how am I able to manage this then?

Thank you and regards,

Sonja

Hi Folks,

I have a project coming over with the same thing.

I believe I will need to separate SIP-Trunks on CUCM for those Trunk Specific Profile etc. have you got any solution for this ?

Cheers.
