Need help on DNS changes

Experts,

Currently we have CUCM ,CUC , IM&P , UCCX of version 10.5

Customer is planning to change the DNS server IP address so we need to change the DNS on all the voice servers.

Can anyone confirm the procedure to do it on all server and do I need to rehost the license on all the voice application.

I believe only UCCX will require a license rehost.

The commands are:

set network dns primary x.x.x.x

set network dns secondary x.x.x.x

If your server nodes are defined as hostnames or FQDN's in System > Server, make sure phones get their dhcp scopes updated with new DNS servers IP's, and MGCP gateways get their configurations updated (if they were using 'ip name-server x.x.x.x' commands).

Do I need to rehost the license for any of the voice servers above.

Only UCCX will require a rehost.

As Evgeny correctly stated you will only need to rehost the licenses for UCCX and not for other UC apps since they are managed by PLM wherein adding/modifying DNS does not require a license rehost.

Licenses are fulfilled to a specific Cisco Prime License Manger. If you require licenses to be moved to a new Cisco Prime License Manager, they will be need to be rehosted.

A rehost may be required if:

• A hardware failure occurred and new hardware is required for Cisco Prime License Manager
• Multiple Cisco Prime License Managers are desired and a subset of fulfillment licenses need to be moved to a new Cisco Prime License Manager
