new license for upgrading to CME 8.5

Dear all,

Recently my customer is using cisco cme 7.1 and they want to have the new FAC features. I know that in order to use FAC in CME, we must upgrade our IOS from 15.0 to 15.1(3)T. After the upgrade, I found that my phones cannot register to the system with same configuration,

Hence, I erase all the configuration and re-enter all the commands and I found that after I type the max-ephone command, it required me to activate the evaluation license. After activating the license, all the phones can register to the system.

Although the license is valid for 624 weeks, however, the status shown is evaluation. I use the command "show license detail" and I located that there is a license call "cme-srst", excluding the use of "uc" feature in IOS, is it required to purchase the cme-srst features?

Thanks.

Had you bought the license before updating IOS ?

Hi Paolo,

That's the question I want to ask, because I found that the uc license is permanent.

I just want to know do we need to purchase anything for this kind of upgrade?

Thanks

Cisco requires that you buy the corresponding licenses for the features that you use.

But if you bought it before, you don't need to buy it again.

I am having exactely this same problem, since we bought a Bundle 2921 with CME, and came with IOS version with CME 7.1 embedded.

Now my customer need FAC feature and I am struggling to understand specificaly what Product ID do I need to buy in order to get a permanent license for IOS 15.1.3. Cisco documentations is not clear about that.

Hi there,

IOS upgrades on the ISR-G2's do not require any new licensing

Changing IOS Software Version

Changing IOS Software Version on a device (i.e. upgrading to 15.1(3) T from 15.1(2) T or downgrading to 15.1(1) T from 15.1(2)T) is licensing transparent. Once the new IOS version is loaded on the device, the IOS recognizes the licenses installed on the device and enables corresponding functionality. No user intervention is required.

Thanks for your reply,

My doubt arose when we installed new version 15.1(3),with the CME 8.5 embededed.

Now the outcome fo the command below shows "License Type: Evaluation" (not permanent as I would suppose), and and expiration period left.

GW_ToIP_TP#sh license detail cme-srst

Feature: cme-srst                        Period left: 624 weeks 6  days

Also throws a messas indicating a 60 days trial period

Use of this product feature requires  an additional license from Cisco,
together with an additional  payment.  You may use this product feature
on an evaluation basis, without payment to Cisco, for 60 days. Your use
of the  product,  including  during the 60 day  evaluation  period,  is
subject to the Cisco end user license agreement

All this make suppose is needed to buy a licence with a PAK associated, in order to permanentely activate the CME 8.5 software.

Regards,

Hi there,

Did you ever register the PAK that came with the original system?

I still think that this count should be valid;

Feature: cme-srst                        Period left: 624 weeks 6  days

Why don't you open a case with;

licensing@cisco.com

To verify

Cheers!
