Hi all, replaced an aging 2651xm mgcp gateway, with a newer 3825 12.4(22)yb4 code, loaded with extra dsp's which have registered and are being used for transcoding, hardware mtp, and conferencing. The gateway has also registered, and will happily except inbound calls in from our pbx. However I can't get it do any outbound calls, just gives busy back!!! Same CSS setup as previous router, any ideas welcome

Start with checking your line - show controller x/x/x
Do you see endpoints registered to CM on admin pages - what you got on gw - show mgcp end?
Do you have there any PRI line? Check show isdn status, you can do some debug isdn q931.
Maybe you missed command under serial config: isdn bind-l3 ccm-manager
Give some more information to do troubleshooting.

Do a deb isdn q931 and make a test call with a phone.
Does the call reach the GW?
Try to make a manual test call from the GW

The gateway is registered to cucm, don't see the call hitting the gateway with any debugs, dialled number analyser say the call should go via the gateway. As I say inbound are fine.

If you don't see anything on GW maybe your router pattern point to old gateway?
Have you updated your route lists or router patterns?
What about partition configuration on gateway? You said CSS is correct but maybe partiton is wrong.

Try some MGCP debugs to see that you receive MGCP packets during call setup.
If not then there must be something wrong on CM
If you receive MGCP packets, but the ISDN is not activated for call setup (Q931) then you might have an IOS bug.

If you use route lists, see if the RL is registered, or do a reset of the RL

route patterns, route lists all okay. when I do a debug isdn q931 don't see the call getting to the router, but everything looks right, and dialled number analyser gives back what i'd expect... Anyone any idea on the best mgcp debugs to use to see any attempt at call setup..

debug mgcp events
