No Dial tone when you pick up the Handset

HI,

One of my Customer is having an issue with 7961 phones that is registered with CUCM 6.1.3.The issue might sound silly but still need some lights on this.

Issue:

"When you pick up the handset you hear nothing and when you depress the speaker button you get dial tone" We thought it was a bad-hook switch on 7961 and replaced with a new phone.The new phone worked fine for couple days and reappeared again.

Any thoughts and suggestions is highly appericiated.

Hi Simah,

What version of firmware is running on the phone?  There are also a couple bugs that match or are similar to what you are experiencing: 

CSCsa93619 - 7961- Harware Issue- No dial tone when off hook

Hi Siva,

When you lift the handset is there any signalling at all.

Does the LED light or does the little phone symbol beside the line button show any animation.

You may need to start taking CUCM traces and raise a TAC case.

It was hardware failure problem.I Initiated a RMA with the phones that had the above issue and that tpk care of it.
