Hello to the Cisco Community,
I'm coming to see you because i just bought on Ebay a Cisco 9971 last week for using it with my french SIP provider OVH and without CUCM.
The phone has got the last firmware cmterm-9971.9-4-2SR4-1_REL coupled to the corresponding SEPMAC file that i attached.
Now, when i modify the file SEPMACADRESS.xml inserting my provider's parameters, i get several error messages :
So i'm looking for help to try to register the phone.
Thanks for advance.

Look at the error message: TFTP Timeout
This means the TFTP server is not working.

Hello Léo and thank you for your answer.
About the TFTP, i only use it for transfering files from my PC to the phone.
According to you, would i should let the TFTP running all the time even if there are no files to transfer ?

The phone are looking for the config, the dial plan and the firmware.
Without a TFTP server, the phone cannot download these files.

Thank you very late Léo for your answer. The phone is indeed trying to load the different files in order to function. After spending a lot of time finding the right files and setting everything up, I finally managed to register my phone. BUT ! there is a dial tone, but I cannot receive or make calls. Conversely, when I call Cisco from my mobile phone, I find voicemail.
If you have an idea to fix it, I'm interested.
Thanks.

NOTE: I am not familiar with the "layout" with OVH.
Did you create a "extension" number on the OVH system?
Did you create in "Inbound Trunk"?
Did the phone download the dialing plan?
Did you create an "Outbound Trunk"?

Check the route pattern which you have trying to dial and your phone should have correct privileges (CSS).

Seems like phone unable to contact with TFTP Server so try to delete ITL file from the phone.
Go to phone setting >>Security>>Trust list>>ITL File
if lock press **# to unlock then press more and erase ITL file.

Thank you Leo and Sadav for your last responses.
In order to be helped more easily, I think I need to clarify several things relating to my configuration.
The CISCO 9971 is connected to an HP Procurve 2626PWR POE switch.
The HP Procurve switch is connected directly to the ADSL box.
Regarding 9971: It's not 3CC so that's why I had to find and set up each of the attached files.
The firmware has been updated to version 9-4-2SR4-1 and I do not have CTI or ITL files for security which is not a problem.
I have access to the 9971 page through its IP address.
I want to use this phone without any other software (Asterisk or Freebbx) My previous Thomson IP phone was connected in the same way as the 9971 and worked fine with OVH (SIP provider) As I said in my previous post, the phone seems to register with the SIP provider and I do get a dial tone when I pick up the handset but:
- I can't make calls
- I can't receive calls.
- The phone doesn't set the date with NTP.
1) Concerning the settings relating to the SIP provider, some of which I cannot integrate into my SEP.xml file, they are as follows:
- SIP ALG and NAT disabled on Box Adsl : OK
- The traffic on the 91.121.128.0/24 and 91.121.129.0/24 networks must be - authorized on ports 5060 - 5962 and 5080 in UDP and the range of 30,000 to 40,000 in UDP also SIP Port: 5060
- Register expires: 1800 OK
- Recording with proxy: True / Note that with this option, it is not recorded. I have to put False which is contradictory.
Thanking you for your help as I am so sad that I cannot get this phone to work so much shouldn't be missing.

<transportLayerProtocol>2</transportLayerProtocol>
Change the value to "1".
Change the NTP value to your router's IP address.
Factory reset the phone.
After the phone has successfully booted up, go to Settings > Administrator's Setting > Status > Status Messages.
Take a picture of what it says and upload it.

Hello Leo,
I followed all of your instructions and unfortunately, nothing has changed.
All the files are loaded and nothing else. There is still a dial tone but it is impossible to receive or calling.
I called my sip provider yesterday and they do not see the Cisco 9971 as registered.
Thanks for your help.

I think i have found why it will never be ok.
My SIP provider needs to work, UDP protocol only / Port 5060.
In the Cisco docs, it is written :
No UDP for SIP Support
Cisco Unified IP Phones 8961, 9951, and 9971 do not support UDP for SIP.
Do not configure the UDP protocol for SIP signaling on Cisco Unified IP Phones 8961, 9951, and 9971.
So i think i can change my phone.

He's not using CUCM.
I suspect you'd be better using a phone with MPP (Multi Platform Phone) firmware, that's designed for use with third party call control platforms. Messing around with XML configuration files and the need to keep a TFTP server running is going to be a right mess even if possible.

Thank you Leo, Sadav and Tony for the help you triied to give me.
I'm gonna see for buying a 3PCC or eventually a CISCO 8945 which is an old model but seems running with UDP protocol for SIP.
