Permit 1 extension on the Internal partition to call 1 external number

Hello all,

I'm having a brain freeze day and I'm looking for a steer.

Cucm 11.x and a SIP gateway to the outside world.

I would like to permit extn 123456 in my internal partition to be able to call all DNs in the internal PT and 08008888888 only.

I realise the Internal partition is called internal for a reason so I resigned myself to the fact I needed to create a new PT and CSS for 123456 .

Then I …

Create a Route Group

Add the PSTN (SIP) gateway to that RG

Create a Route List and make the above RG a member

Create a Route Pattern for 08008888888 and add the above RL to it

The end result is that 123456 can call any number except 08008888888!!

I suspect you might think I have raised the white flag early on this on – however, as I plough through the misconfigured….. above….., somewhere.

Can you think of an alternative to the above?

Partitions assigned to the phone DNs have nothing to do with calling permissions from those DNs, partitions control who can reach these DNs not who they can call. Calling privileges are controlled by the calling search space assigned to the device and/or the DN, so if you require different calling privileges from each line on the phone you need to structure the CSSes on the DNs accordingly.

If you want only this extension 123456 to be able to call that pattern 08008888888 then you'd do something like .. create new Partition,  add the Route Pattern 08008888888 into that Partition.  Make a copy of the CSS used by your normal phones, and add the new Partition into that CSS.   Apply the new CSS to extension 123456 only.

We can't really be specific without knowing how your CUCM is structured, what the current calling privileges of 123456 are at the moment, who else if anyone needs to be able to call 08008888888, whether you have separate device and line CSS etc. There may be simpler ways.

Chris is correct. You need to  make sure that the CSS on the DN 123456 has the "Internal"partition and whatever partition 08008888888 belongs too.
