Play recorded voice message only for external calls

Dear Friends,

There is an Emergency Department Coordinator who can assist or take action in the event of any accident or emergency. Hot lines have been configured for 10 users. Calls from internal users and other branches are not a problem, but unwanted calls from outside are irritating them (PSTN-E1 configured on voice gateway). For our company team, for instance, we have 110 available, which is also reachable from the outside. The hotline number for one of the meal delivery services is 101. They are phoning 110 when they should be dialing 101 to place a meal order. The labor load of the staff at our organization is increased by answering nuisance calls.

Is there any way to play a voice message only for outside calls? As a result, the caller mistook the wrong number.

Thanks, and Regards,

Shahul

Absolutely possible. Create a partition that you name something intuitive to distinguish it to be used for outside calls where a message should be played. In this partition create a Translation Pattern that matches the DN that you’d like to play the message to, on this change the called number to something to be able to distinguish it in the VM system, for example add something in-front of the number. Then create a CTI RP that has the directory number of the number that you put as the output from the TP and set it to do call forward all to VM. In the VM system create a Call Handler that has the extension that matches the directory number on the CTI RP and set it to play the message. Next create a CSS that is to be used as the inbound CSS on the gateway/trunk. The easiest is to create it by copying the current CSS that is used as the inbound CSS. In this CSS add the newly created partition and order it before the partition where you have your directory numbers.

With this the call should match the TP as it is a equal match as the DN, but with a better match as the PT is ordered higher in the list in the CSS.

Thank you for your kind and immediate response. Additionally they want to give an option for the caller like press 1 for continue or hangup.

You can set that up on the call handler.
