Hi ,
we currently have 5 Service provider PRI voice circuits that terminate in the voice gateway . All these circuits
are for the Cisco Call Manager in one of the site.
we’re looking at reducing the number of PRI’s to 3.Can I shutdown last two ?
for e.g circuits
1XXXXXX
2XXXXXX
3XXXXXX
4XXXXXX
5XXXXXX
We are planning on shutting down the two on the list
Do we gave to look at the configuration on the voice gateway to see if any programming needs to be changed to allow for these circuits to be shut down.
How do I identify to which specific ports on the router that these circuits are connected to.
As it’s been recommended that prior to Service provideer shutting down the 2 circuits, we disconnect them from the router as a test to ensure the reaming 3 PRI’s continue to handle the incoming/outgoing calls. Instead of physically pulling the cables for the test .
Can we disable the ports.

Hi Sadiq,
You need to check the configuration to see if those PRIs are primarily used for routing any calls and whether there is a secondary option available for those calls if these PRIs are removed. Then edit the configuration accordingly before proceeding with the shutdown.

Post your GW configuration, however assuming all 5 PRIs are part of the same routing schema you should be able to disconnect them as CUCM/GW if configured correctly will just use the remaining PRIs.
