Principal difference between Cisco ATA 186 and Cisco ATA 187

Hello!

Tell me, please, what is the fundamental difference between Cisco ATA 186 and Cisco ATA 187?

What is better to buy?

I have the opportunity to buy a new one Cisco ATA 186 at a price 19 USD and a new one Cisco ATA 187 at a price 45 USD.

I read that it's better to buy 186, since 187 are still cheesy and work with errors.

Yes, it should be pretty fine. Btw, ATA186 can do both SIP and SCCP signalling to CUCM.

Not sure where you are getting these "new" from the 186 is eol with last day of hardware support being September 30, 2015, the 187 is eol with last day of sale being December 29, 2014 and last day of hardware support being December 31, 2019. They may be in box not previously used but I would not recommend putting anything in production without support on it.

The ATA 190s is the current replace for the 187 which is the ata model currently being sold from cisco.  The ATA 190 is a sip device where the old ones where sccp.  You can read more about it in the data sheets.

Not much of a difference. The ATA187 is just a newer model; it is SIP-only and supports SecureRTP. You can go with either one.

Here are their datasheets:

I'm buying for an apartment.

In my country is very cheap SIP telephony (0.40 USD per month for a direct number with a package of services), unlimited gigabit Internet (5 USD per month).

Yes, I understand that these devices are removed from sale and support (186, 187). But I'm offered a new sealed equipment that was not used. I'm starting from the price and opportunities.
For example, Cisco ATA 186 - 19 USD, Cisco ATA 187 - 45 USD, Cisco ATA 190 - 237 USD.

I understand that for my home purposes, so as not to overpay and get more functions - will be enough ATA 186, which can not only SIP?

ATA 186 will be installed in the hallway, from ATA 186 there will be a wire to the first phone, and from the first phone the wire will be held on the second phone.

Tell me, please, can I connect two telephone (parallel) devices to one telephone port (phones will have one phone number)?

ATA 186 from such a connection will not break?

Thank you.

You can connect two phones lines in parallel and they will have only one extension, which will be the one configured on the ATA186 port one.

You will not face any issues, unless you exaggerate with the cable length from the ATA port to the phones.

For two back-to-back devices you should be good up to 762m.
