Removing FXO card from CUCME

I have a CME with 3 x FXO cards.

The system at present has 9 analogue PSTN line connect to it. It also has a VWIC which will have a PRI connected to it. The analogue numbers will be ported to the PRI  meaning that the FXO cards are no longer required.

The CUCM has 16 DSPs available of which 12 are being used by the FXO cards. This means at the moment the PRI will only be able to use 4 channels.

I am going to configure the PRI remotely so won't be on site to to physically remove the FXO cards. Is there a way of disabling the FXO cards so that all the DSPs are released for the PRI? If not can I somehow allocate all the DSPs to the PRI until I can get to site to remove the FXO cards?

I dont think so DSP resources will be freed unless you remove the card. Even if you try to disable the ports by shut down the DSP resources will still be reserved. Unless you remove the card the DSP resources will not be freed.

Yes I understand. I ran into a similar issue recently, where the router had an unused FXS card blocking the 4 DSP channels leaving insufficient channels to configure the required complete E1 line. But I was lucky enough to have someone on the ground to remove the card.

If you need to de-allocate the DSP resources from FXS/FXO, the only way is to remove the cards.

Those forcefully need DSP's to work, and they're allocated upon boot.
