Hi there, I am facing a problem that user cannot login to their voice mail box if they are not using their primary line. And I would like to know if there is any setting related to this situation.
That is a fresh installed unity connection (v11.0) connecting with a fresh installed CUCM (v11.0) by using SIP trunk. User can login to their voice mail box if they are using their own primary line. For example, if user extension is 1234, user id is 1234, and they can login to their user mailbox by using the line 1234 to dial to unity connection. But if user is using others line, say line 5678, they cannot login to the voice mailbox 1234 even they provided correct UID and pin.
Does anyone know if there is any setting affecting this?

Hi William,
By reaching the VM pilot and pressing star from any phone, you should be able to access any user voicemail by passing mailbox number and pin and ths is the default behavior.
If you want to change this behaviour globally, you can select System Call Handler "Opening Greeting " select "Edit" and "caller input"
select * sign and select "call action" and then "ignore" option.

Hi,
One way to achieve this can be by using the secondary extension as an alternate extension for that mailbox. In the example you gave, there would be a mailbox with extension 1234 and 5678 is added as an alternate extension. Once you add 5678 as alternate extension, when you will place the call from 5678, CUC will recognize 5678 as an alternate extension for mailbox with extension 1234 and will let the user login.

Hi Aseem,
Thanks for the reply. But the thing is I can now login from whatever phone/line I want to a specific voicemail box if I know the UID and PIN of that voicemail box. And I am assuming that is the default behavior of unity connection. Therefore I would like to know if anyone know the situation that I am facing now is normal and any related setting that I can set to change the behavior.

Hi Carlo,
Yes, I tried that. It should work by default. But even I use the correct PIN and UID, I cannot login to any voicemail box if the line that I am using is not the primary line of the voicemail box.

Hi William,
Can you please run the remote port status monitoring tool while calling from both primary and other extension and please post the result here.
Thanks

Hi Carlo,
Thanks for the reply.
I am just figured out that the UID that we tried to login through others line is not the actual extension store in unity connection. Login is successed after line up the extension.

William
