If a call is placed on hold from a VoiP phone, can an ATA with the same line resume the call? Researching Cisco and other documentation, I believe the only way would be to Park the call from the VoIP phone. To resume the call, the Call Park code would then be entered from the ATA line, correct?
I tried enabling Autobarge on the ATA - when the line is in use on a VoIP phone and I go off hook on the ATA, I hear dial tone as usual. If I place the call on hold on the phone then go off hook with the ATA, get a fast busy when going off hook. With Autobarge disabled I tried **6 from the ATA in both cases, when the line was connected on a call, and on hold - got fast busy.

Have you tried using hook flash to resume a held call? The ATA191 End User Guide for CUCM states that you can hold/resume using hook flash. I haven't tried this with a call held by another shared line appearance of the DN though.
You can only barge into an active call, not one that has been placed on hold.

Yes - tried hook flash after placed on hold on a 9841 phone. The analog hold feature would work if we installed an analog desk phone and bridged it with the analog line (a cordless phone) in place of the 9841, but that's not preferable.
At this point I'm considering Call Park or Directed Call Park. I was surprised to see it's never been configured in our system, it was quite common back in the TDM days. I created a Directed Call Park key in A 'Dummy' partition on my phone along with an extension in the Dummy-PT. Pressing the key while an active call just causes the call to go on Hold for a fraction of a second. I expected the key's light to flash and I'd be able to resume the call from another phone with the retrieval code I set up, *881 (Directed Park code is 881). I expected barge and auto-barge to work on an active call, will try working with that again.

I was able to go off hook with the ATA line and connect to the active call on the 9841 phone after changing the 9841's device privacy setting from default (which in this case means On) to Off. This should suffice for the situation.
