I have a client the needs to upgrade to 10.0 from 9.1 on a 7835i Server. I have read through a number of guide and discussion but still have not found the answer to if the 7835i is supported with 10.0. From what I have read he needs to upgrade the memory from 4 to 6 and needs to install VMWare withe vcenter to support the configuration. The 7835i has the following configuration:
Platform Type |
7835I3 |
Serial Number |
KQ3P5R6 |
Processor Speed |
2000 |
CPU Type |
Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5504 @ 2.00GHz |
Memory |
4096 Mbytes |
Object ID |
1.3.6.1.4.1.9.1.585 |
OS Version |
operatingsystem.UCOS5.0.0.0-2 |
RAID Details |
Versions |
My questions are:
1) Is this server supported to run CUCM 10.0
2) Can I order VMW-VSP-STD-1A= (4) to support the server
3) Does the client need to order any additional disk for the server
4) Will 6meg of memory be enough for the installation.
Thanks!

Absolutely Not, 10.x onward it is all Virtualized no MCS(physical) servers at all whatsoever

Customer has stated they are doing this today on other 7835i servers. They have installed the VMWare software on the server and it is running today in that configuration. I understand that 10.0 will not running on the server standalone but can you run it if you install VMWare on the 7835i server?

This is also not supported. They will need to purchase Cisco UCS servers for that and do it that way. It is not supported to install ESXi on the MCS server and do it that way neither I think it will even work in the first place.

You can, but it's not supported, they are losing all Cisco support by doing that.
If they want to do that in a lab, there is no problem, for production environments, the link I posted explains what is supported.
