Running DMA from CUCM 8.6 on UCS Chasis

Hi All,

I am seeing a help on upgrading the CUCM 8.5 on UCS platform. 

I will be upgrade the 4.x CUCM to 8.6.

I understood, 4.x backup will be migrated with the help of DMA tool. During the 8.6 installation, I need to select the upgrade option and select the DMA from SFTP or FTP.

Only concerning area is -- UCS does not support USB port. We need to supply the platformconfig.xml file through FLP media.

1- Do we have FLP drive installed at UCS-C210M2-VCD2 chasis.

2- Is there other way, System will not look to platformconfig.xml file and allow me to enter the required information manaully.

Pls advise.

If you use the answer file generator (for the platformconfig.xml) you're correct you have to use an FLP "The answer file generated by the Answer File  Generator (platformConfig.xml) cannot get read from a USB key to perform  an unattended installation. Instead, you must put the answer file into a  FLP image to be mounted in the floppy drive."

As for DMA you will have to upgrade to 7.x first, since you cannot import a DMA file to CUCM 8.x (

Please confirm

1- Do we have the FLP drive installed in the UCS-C210M2-VCD2 chasis as a defualt config.

2- Is there any way, I can aviod the Answer generator file and enter the confguration manaully during 7.1.3 installation.
