Hi all,

I am using CUCM version 7.1. After I install subscribers, I can not start any services in Sevice Activation page. The publisher is ok. Error message:

"...Service cannot be Activated or Deactivated due to Database Update Failure".

Any ideas for me.

Hi Thuc,

Please refer the link for resolving DBReplication problem. Was this working earlier or faced the replication problem now

https://supportforums.cisco.com/docs/DOC-13672

From Cisco Unified Reporting , can u share the snapshot of CM Database Status report.

regds,

Hi

Please review screen capture for DB reporting:

Hi Thuc,

It seems that you have three servers in a cluster out of which two Subscribers are facing the issue of DBReplication.

Can u try the commands to fix the issue.

  1. utils dbreplication stop on all subscribers. This command can be run on all subscribers at the same time but needs to complete on all subscribers prior to being run on the publisher. The amount of time this command takes to return is based on your cluster's repltimeout. This can be seen through the Command show tech repltimeout and by default is 300 seconds or 5 minutes. At the end of this document I will provide a calculation for determining what you should set your repltimeout (via utils dbreplication setrepltimeout) in your cluster and how this value affects replication.  (If utils dbreplication stop all is available (7.X and later) then step 1 and step 2 can be accomplished in this one command)
  2. utils dbreplication stop on publisher.  Again this command can be done through the utils dbreplication stop all if available.  This also will wait the repltimeout as said above.
  3. utils dbreplication reset all - This command will take an hour to complete or longer depending on your cluster. You can monitor the status through the utils dbreplication runtimestate or through the procedure following the examples portion of this document.

You won't be able to use utils dbreplication rumtimestate. So, use Cisco unified reporting tool to check the Count. It should be 2 if replication is fine.[Expand View details]

I also resintalled one subscriber with same IP address and Hostname. It is working fine. The other one is kept troubleshooting.

How about the log file to diagnose the activation issue? Could you suggest for  me?

Hi Thuc,

Was this working setup ?

Hope u have enough Node Licenses on Call manager and u have added SUb2 in Pub.

regds,

aman

Hi Aman,

I checked the license report:

With rebuilded subscriber server, now I can activate the services.

Thuc

Hi Thuc,

Thanks for update.

Finally , u had to rebuild both the subscribers.

regds,

aman

Hi Aman,

So, I want to find why I can not activate the services. Could you suggest me for log trace or debug or something like that?

Thuc.

Hi Thuc,

Now, since u have re-installed  SUB, u won't be able to get the logs.

regds,

aman

Hi,

I just rebuilded one subscriber server. The other is still there. We can get the log files if we want.

Thuc

Hi Thuc,

I thought u have rebuilt the second SUB as well.

Please follow the link to enable traces.
