SIP/2.0 403 Forbidden when trying to register to Avaya IP Office

I'm trying to register a Cisco 8841-3PCC SIP phone to an Avaya IP Office and keep getting a 403 Forbidden after an initial 401 Unauthorized.

I can connect however using X-Lite with the same credentials. You can see from the attached packet captures that both devices initially get an 401 Unauthorized response when they try to register. But when they try to register again with authorization information the X-Lite is able to register successfully but the Cisco 8841 receives a 403 Forbidden. The REGISTER messages look almost identical to me.

Is there something I'm missing in the 8841 config?

Thanks in advance - mike.

I think it was as simple as a typo in the password.

Just debugs in your Avaya. From the pcap, both agents are sending same information in the digit authentication.

You will have to check on the Server why exactly it is choosing to reply with a 403.

Also make sure the password field in Voice->Ext1 has the right information.

Thanks
