We've been having a difficult time transitioning from POTS lines to SIP/ATAs for faxing in our environment. After much trial and error, we've finally settled on a configuration that results in T38 being negotiated over a SIP trunk via CUBE and multi-platform ATA 191s configured in CUCM as third party SIP devices. This seems to work 'ok' but we still receive reports of constant issues such as fax quality issues or fax reach ability issues.
I know we will not receive the same performance on ATAs as we did with analog lines. However, does anyone have suggestions or configs that seemed to work best for them? Maybe the hardware is to blame? Or, is this type of call flow/ config inherently sub-optimal for faxing? Also, if anyone has a standard config for the ATA 191 web gui that worked best for them, please feel free to share. Short of going directly to TAC for a recommended best practice, we just followed the config guides and adjust parameters on the fly.
