TBCT Problem

Hi All ,

I’m trying to use a feature commonly known as 2 B channel Transfer (TBCT) or Release Link Trunk. Nortel/ Avaya  call this feature Anti-Tromboning .

Firstly let me explain what i am trying to do. As you can see from the attached topology ,  i will configure a AA in Unity Connection. The calls initiated from CS1000 hits the  Unity Connection and  the caller hears the prompt,  dials a CS1000 extension.  Right after the call is transferred to corresponding CS1000 extension the call is established.

The problem is every call requires 2 ports , and the ports are busy during the call duration. ( although Unity Connection ( 8.0.3 ) is configured as “ release to switch” , the ports are not released. )

The implementation is simple ;

interface Serial0/1/1:15

no ip address

encapsulation hdlc

isdn switch-type primary-net5 (  tbct is supported only with net5 or ni )

isdn incoming-voice voice

isdn supp-service tbct

isdn bind-l3 ccm-manager

no cdp enableand

i enabled the  TRMB ( Anti-Tromboling ) on the Avaya/Nortel Cs1000 side. But i get attached error message  from the ISDN trace.

Any suggestions or any other methods that i can accomplish to do this .

Hi, CUCM supports path replacement that would allow you to accomplish with your goals, but it only works with QSIG.  Here is more information about the Path Replacement: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/partner/docs/voice_ip_comm/cucm/admin/8_5_1/ccmsys/a08procl.html#wp1156114  I hope this helps.  Marcos
