Does anyone know if the UCS server batteries have a lifespan or are recommended to be replaced every 12 months or so?
I have a customer using UCS and the batteries seem to alarm every year for replacement.

Hi Daniel,
LSI recommends that you replace the LSI BBU once per year or after 1,000 recharge cycles, whichever comes first. Verify whether BBU replacement is required by looking in the CIMC. Log in to CIMC for the server, then click Server—Inventory—Storage—Battery Backup Unit. If the Battery Replacement Required field says, “True,” then you must purchase a replacement BBU and replace it.

Thanks Manish, will the UCS server send an alert after 1000 recharges to say please replace? This is what we seem to be getting.......

Hi Daniel,
The server will log it if 1000 recharges are reached before one year. You can verify it through CIMC, Log in to CIMC for the server, then click Server—Inventory—Storage—Battery Backup Unit. If the Battery Replacement Required field says, “True,” then you must purchase a replacement BBU and replace it.

Hi Manish,
Do you know, if the BBU replacement is TRUE, will CISCO still support server if qwe have an issue? What i need to know is, Is it mandatory to replace every 12 months or just recommended?
