Unable to access web config page on 8861-3PCC

Recently bought 8861-3PCC (secondhand), already have a SPA525G2 connected to Voipfone (UK), liked the look of the 8861 (all that glitters is not gold!). It has been factory reset but won't allow web page access, (it is enabled on the phone settings) under http I get a Cisco ICO on the address bar & a blank page, with rotating graphic in the middle, under https it refuses to connect, tried different browsers, different routers, direct ethernet and wireless etc - which has me tearing out what little hair I have left. I have included various photos for your information. I am an old fart with a little knowledge (dangerous, I know) so any help would be gratefully received but keep it as simple as you can!

I hope I haven't bought a brick....

Finally made it through the http route, a couple of false starts but got there in the end. The final syntax string that worked was:

http://192.168.1.37/admin/upgrade?tftp://192.168.1.3/sip88xx.11-3-3MPP0103-381.loads

IP of Phone                                         IP of my computer - with the tftp64 set to the firmware folder - that was it!

Thank you Geovani for all your help in this, I now have a fully updated phone (Still needs Edge to view it though). This has been an education for me, another trick learnt by this old dog!

Cheers

Hi there,

I think your firmware is very old and you're having issues with the browser.

Try upgrading your phone via URL

See page 112 of the admin guide: https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/voice_ip_comm/cuipph/MPP/8800/english/AG/p881_b_8800-mpp-ag_new.pdf

Basically something like this:

http://MPP_IPADDRESS/admin/upgrade?http://FILE_SERVER:PORT/PATH/file.loads

This will trigger the phone to upgrade.

You can use TFTP or HTTP/S for the upgrade.

Let me know how it goes.

Thank you for your quick reply, will the phone accept the http connection upgrade or will that get blocked as well? Also should I go for the latest firmware or update in steps (don't want to frighten it to death!)

Providing that the phone is on factory reset state, it will take http connections.

You can go from 11.1. to latest. Shouldn't be an issue.

Thank you very much for your help, will have a go later and see what happens - will let you know

Right, I actually got through to it with the command below and it showed an updating screen, but it failed with error 123 in system call etc I am running tftp64 with it's folder pointed at 8800Update on my C: drive

Not sure what I did wrong see below (surprised it got that far at my first attempt to be honest!) Any ideas?

Thanks, I'm away from my main computer at the moment, will give it another try later, but I did find a way of getting onto it's web page... I downloaded Firefox beta 3 from around 2017 and it got in but the voice page was greyed out with the connection symbol spinning. The info and most of the other pages were ok, just the voice page a no go. Hope that helps someone. By the way also tried firefox 2 but that wouldn't access it at all. Will come back to you when I get back. Many thanks for your time Geovani, much appreciated

firefox beta 3 was from around 2007/8 not 17 doh!

Good to know you found a work around.

Still very advisable to upgrade the firmware. You won't have the browser issue anymore when you do.

Wont need to use your ancient firefox then

Just for anyone who is struggling with no access to web page, Firefox version 60 works a treat (in my case!) Will update it the hard way just to get the experience, let you know if it works....

Finally made it through the http route, a couple of false starts but got there in the end. The final syntax string that worked was:

http://192.168.1.37/admin/upgrade?tftp://192.168.1.3/sip88xx.11-3-3MPP0103-381.loads

I just got my used 8861-3PCC to upgrade its firmware to the latest version (sip88xx.11-3-7MPP0101-284.loads), but the web server still just gives me the spinning thing.  How can I get the web server to work???

What browser are you using?
Is this phone provisioned on your own platform?
Were  you ever able to log in and access the web?
HTTP or HTTPS?

Nevermind, I got it to work!
