Unity Connection on VM

Client is migrating from Unity to Unity Connection (non-HA) on a C210 server, virtualized. They had 32 ports on Unity, but the OVA for 500 ports provides only 16 ports. So I'm thinking we have a few options; choose the higher level OVA to allow for more ports, or choose the active-active option for the 500 user OVA, but this would require an HA license, and building the additional VM. Looking for guidance on the best option.

Thanks,

Brian

Hey Brian,

My vote would be to encourage the customer to move to the HA deployment where

they can also have 32 Ports per VM. If they don't want to spend the extra ca$h then the

higher OVA is supported

Brian,

If your customer had 32 ports on Unity and, assuming they have a need for more than 16 ports on average, then I would go with the higher OVA to support the single server port capacity they require.  This is independent of whether or not you do the HA model.  In a Unity Connection cluster, you should be configured such that either server can handle all of the calls for the cluster.  In other words, if you need 32 ports then it would be ideal for each server be configured with 32 ports (64 for the cluster).  In this way, either server can handle all of the calls for the cluster in a failover scenario.  If you have two servers with 16 ports for a total of 32 then you would be at 50% capacity during a failover event.
