Hello All,

I am on cisco and looking at the Firmware release notes to upgrade my cisco 7940 phones to 8.1 SR2. I know that I first have to upgrade to 8.1.1 then 8.1.SR2. My phones are currently at P00307020200 and the CME 7.0 only goes up to P00308000500. I am migrating these phones from a CME to a cluster which the phones will then need to upgarde to P0030801SR02. What I would like to know is how do I navigate on Cisco to back track which upgrades I will need to do to get to P0030801SR02??? I was able to look at the Release notes for 8.1 SR2 and it told me to first get 8.1.1, I then looked at 8.1.1 thinking it would tell me to first upgrade to something, but it didnt tell me what I needed to get to 8.1.1. I am really green when it comes to upgrading firmware, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Martin,

The firmware release cmterm-7940-7960-sccp.8-1-2SR2 is the very

last release for the 7940's/7960's and you have determined the proper

incremental steps as you nicely noted in the original post.

The SCCP41.9-0-3S will not be applied to 7940 model sets as indicated

with the "41" so you should be good to go.

Cheers!

Rob

I believe you can upgrade form firmware 7.2 to 8.1 direct, and then apply the SR2.

Robert,

thanks for your reply. I just noticed on my post a big screw up but i made the changes. I accidently pasted in the firmware for a 7941. im on a CCME 7.0 which is currently running firmware version P00307020200. The CCME compatability matrix shows the highest i can go is 8.0.5. I am migrating to a cluster and will be reconfiguring the CCME router for SRST. The cluster firmware version is P0030801SR02. So would I have to upgrage from 7.2.2 to 8.0.5 to 8.1 and then apply the SR2?

thanks for your help!
