Hi All;
I have to cases for upgrade, in the first case I am going to do upgrade for hardware and software for the call manager, so I will install the latest call manager (version 8) on a new hardware, but I am not able to know what is the best method to migrate the configuration from the old call manager which is windows based 4.2(3) to that version 8 ?
Another Scenario which will be at the same hardware, I need also to do upgrade for the Call Manager from version 4.2(3) to version 8 and I am really looking to know the best scenario to keep having the configuration?
By the way; Is there any special method to access the database on version 8?
The kindly help is appreciated.
Fully thanks
Regards
Bilal

You need to reinstall the system and select that you're doing an upgrade so you can import the data from DMA.
That's the only point at which you can use the DMA file.

You will need Node Licenses and Device Licenses.
Node licenses for the Number of the Servers in the cluster
Device Licenses for No. of Phones etc.
I think you will need to talk to your Local Partner regarding this. They will help you on this.

Thanks dear.
What are the needed license for the CUCM version 8.5 ?
Do I need for the service it self? And for the IP Phones and for the CTI, ... etc?
Or only for the service?
In case of having version 4 and need to upgrade for versoin 8, then how can I use the license that is existed at version 4?

Full Thanks.
Is it really that if CUCM has been installed and IP address for it was determined, then it is not possible to change the IP address for it again?
If I am planning to have a LAB (to do testing) and if I download the CUCM from cisco website, it does not come with a license to start the service at the CUCM with some few IP Phones (enough for me 2 or 3 IP Phones to be used). Just for testing?
Appreciate the kindly help and advises in the way ..

Is it really that CUCM 8.5 come with license for 3 nodes and 150 IP Phones? Why cisco did this? This only for 8.5 or for other versions? Actually a company has 150 IP Phones, they can use CUCM without license
