VIC2-2FXS on Cisco1760 with PSTN (E1) on a Cisco2851.

Hi,

I am seeking someone's help before I install the devices. I have 4 x VIC2-2FXS card that I want to install on a Cisco1760 for fax. But there is no PSTN connection on this Cisco1760. It is connected to the LAN with the ethernet port. The main PSTN connection is on a Cisco2851 E1 Controller which is on the same LAN. My question, would the fax work if the PSTN is not directly on the Cisco1760? How would I point the FXS card to the Cisco2851 for the PSTN?

Yes the fax should work. Please search the cisco site for a primer on Voice networking that will give you the basics including fax configuration.
