The only supported platform for installing CUCM is VMware; it cannot be installed on a bare metal server. VMware licensing has undergone significant changes recently following Broadcom's acquisition. From what I understand, licenses are now based on the number of cores. For example, if your server has 16 cores, you’ll need a 16-core license. As far as I know, there’s no specific license type required for CUCM, so to determine the right option, it’s best to contact Broadcom directly.
