There are two commands under the subject command

1) Translate Called

2) Translate Calling

3) Redirect-Called

4) Redirect-Target

Can any one tell me the difference translate called and translate calling ? and in general others two command as well.

Second, we may apply these profile in following ways on dial-peers, voice ports, etc..

1) Incoming

2) Outgoing

Please correct me if i am wrong

Incoming means that translate profile will be applied if call is coming in from PSTN to Gateway

Outgoing means that translate profile will be applied if call is going out from Gateway to PSTN

1. Difference  among the 4 commands

  • translate called: translate the called number (applied to incoming or outoing calls depends on your configuration under specific dial peer, translatoin-profile [incoming | outgoing] ).
  • translate calling: translation the calling number ......(same as above)
  • If the call is a forwarded call, then Redirect-called make sense. As forwarded calls can be relayed for several hops, the number addressing mechanism varies depends on the signaling configuration, below URL might be of some help for you, http://www.cisco.com/en/US/tech/tk652/tk90/technologies_configuration_example09186a00803f818a.shtml#con4

2. incoming & outgoing query:

  • yes, you are right.
