Hi,
We are using IP phone (alcatel) and PaBX. On Router theres no Configuration of Ip phone.
We have to site A & B Connected Via leased line.
How can I verify the link or line where my VoIP packet runs.
Also whos giving the Ip address for all my Ip phones??
PaBx of site A is connected to site A Core switch same as the site B connected to core switch B.
Tried to use wireshark but all i can see is broadcast message only.
thanks

You can see checking the route table where the packets go.
Also whos giving the Ip address for all my Ip phones? Check your DHCP.

Hi Leonardo,
.As per checking there's no configuration on our DHCP server only for the workstation.
what routing table? are you referring to the routers routing?
the default route going to the Default gateway.
so i think maybe the configuration was configured on pabx the then the pabx connected to core switch.
but upon checking there is no dhcp configure only ip address and default gateway.
thanks

Hi Arvin,
1) Ip addresses for the ip phones have been provided by either a DHCP server on your network,
or the phone have been manually configured with the relevant IP info.
2) Your VoIP packets are just IP packets so they will follow the paths given in
your router IP routing tables.
3) On a switched layer 2 network (mostly used nowadays) wireshark will only pick up
packets that are destined to the port/interface that it is plugged in to.
To see packets from/to other ports/interfaces you need to deploy port mirroring/spanning
between the source port (or Vlan etc) and the destination port of your wireshark.

Hi Alex,
1. As per checking there's no configuration on our DHCP server.
2. SETTINGS: IP Address 10.34.62.82 /20 but no default gate
3. yes i tried to configure SPAN or port mirroring. but I have not seen the DHCP req. for IPPhone all i can see is the Scr and Destination.
Please see the attached file.
Thanks
Arvin
