I want insert VIC3-4FXS/DID in my 2911 router.
Where two ways to do it:
1. Insert in HWIC slot
OR
2. Insert in NM module
What is the difference?

Now, about the difference: there really isn't any from a functional stand point; but if you choose to use a NM there may be additional HW considerations when it comes to PVDM card distribution between the motherboard's PVDM slots and the NMs slots.
Here are a couple of other usefull links:

In V/HWIC slot.
You will also need PVDM3 DSP module.

Paolo, thanks a lot.
But can you explain the difference?

No need for NM.

VIC3 cards can be inserted in both NMs and chassis HWICs. I don't believe you need PVDM3 cards specifically to support them but a recent IOS is required (anything in the 15T should be good). You may want to go through these two links:

Of course PVDM3 is required. No voice card can work without DSP.

I meant PVDM2 cards would also work; not just PVDM3. And just in case, IOS 12.4(20)T or later is required.

you might also want to consider the maintenance aspect and what slots support online removal cards should they fail.
